Everybody hates Tom Cruise

In the past year Tom has received more bad press than Saddam Hussein, perhaps even more than George Bush.

Our gossip radars have picked up some serious evidence convincing us that Tom Cruise might be going crazy, and not crazy cool. We're convinced that at the moment Tom might even be less popular than Saddam.

Stuff Magazine recently hosted a poll, 'Which star would you least like to go camping overnight with?' Victory went to our Mission Impossible star with a massive 41% of the vote.

This is not the first time this year that Tom has been dissed in the press.

Tom's crazy behaviour in 2005 'won' him a Razzie Award for being the Most Tiresome Tabloid Target. The Razzie Awards are an annual event acknowledging the year's worst movies and film stars.

Cruise was given the unwanted award for his embarrassing behaviour last year, which include the now infamous 'couch jumping' incident on the Oprah Winfrey show.

In fact humiliating himself in public seems to have become one of Tom's fortes. At a recent Kanye West concert Tom, according to In Touch Weekly, "dangled off a nine-foot-high balcony" at L.A.’s Avalon. He then complained, "All these people are making me crazy. It’s too much!" and climbed up cables to get away from the crowds.

Other concert goers claimed that he asked them about their religion and told them about how Scientology has changed his and Katie's lives.

If you think Tom's public behaviour is strange you'll be surprised to hear that in his private life, things are even worse.

Tom is planning to marry Katie Holmes in summer after the new Mission Impossible movie is released. He recently told Germany's leading tabloid Bild, “First the baby, then the film. Then, in summer, we want to get married. I won’t let this woman get away.”

Also in the press, recently, Tom announced that Katie should become a stay-at-home mom and that he won't allow her to become 'another' Nicole Kidman.

Thanks to Tom's influence Katie has been spending up to eight hours a day in Scientology church it was recently reported.

"Run, Katie, run!" is the only thing that comes to mind.

Tom's ridiculous antics have seeped into popular culture to such an extent that a whole South Park episode was dedicated to him, John Travolta and the Scientology Church.

In true South Park fashion they make fun about Tom and Scientologists. There is a scene where Tom locks himself in a cupboard because he is told he is not as good an actor as Gene Hackman. They then proceed to make numerous jokes about Tom 'being in the closet' and how he should 'come out of the closet'.

Could aliens be to blame for Tom's strange behaviour?

Scientology, Tom's religion, is a philosophy that was created by a science fiction writer, L. Ron Hubbard. Scientologists believe unhappiness and 'aberrations' are caused by the memories of previous lives and that some of these 'traumatic' memories were 'implanted' by aliens.

Scientologists don't believe in taking medication for mental illnesses. In fact they are completely opposed to the whole practice of psychiatry. Instead, they feel that Hubbard's teachings can save them from addictions, depression, and mental illness.

Or maybe his childhood is the reason why he is so, err… different?

He recently admitted to Parade magazine that he never had a good relationship with his father. "He was a bully and a coward," said Tom. "He was the kind of person where, if something goes wrong, they kick you. It was a great lesson in my life – how he'd lull you in, make you feel safe and then, bang!"

"For me, it was like, 'There's something wrong with this guy. Don't trust him. Be careful around him.' There's that anxiety," he continued.

Tom also said he was harassed by his classmates while he was growing up. "So many times the big bully comes up, pushes me. Your heart's pounding, you sweat, and you feel like you're going to vomit ... I don't like bullies."

Tom might be going crazy but one thing is for sure ... he does have a lot of power in the media world. In recent months Tom allegedly managed to single-handedly cancel the South Park episode about him and his church. He also got movie directors to cut a scene showing Katie Holmes' breasts out of the film, Thank you for smoking. Serious. I saw the film last night and there were no boobies, whatsoever.
