There are a number of factors that will make three-in-a-bed work, says Emily Dubberly, author of Brief Encounters: The Woman's Guide to Casual Sex. Take our quiz to find out if you've got what it takes:

1. Are you in a happy relationship? No/Yes

Correct answer: No
Stay happy be steering clear of the "third element". "If you're in a satisfying relationship, don't put it at risk," says Dubberly. "You can't have sex with a person other than your partner without it affecting your relationship." So if you're happy as you are, count your blessing and leave threesomes to other folk.

2. Would you consider a threesome with two people you weren't overly attracted to? No/Yes

Correct answer: Yes
A three-in-a-bed with your man and some other hot chick or hunky man? Get real. "You'll never have a threesome if you're overly choosy," says Dubberly. "It's about exploring two other people's bodies at the same time as they enjoy yours, not about having sex with the most beautiful person in the world" Ouch, the sound of your shattered dreams is deafening.

3. If your partner wanted to have sex with another woman, would you mind? No/Yes

Correct answer: No
Surprised? Well, you're asking the same of your partner – you want to have sex with someone else too. "You can't expect your partner to share you with someone else if you're not willing the share them," says Dubberly."

4. Would you be frustrated if you didn't orgasm during your threesome? No/Yes

Correct answer: Yes
Let's be realistic – you're not rubbing, licking and rolling around with two other naked bodies for the hell of it – you want climax! "If you can't even admit that you'd be frustrated by not climaxing," says Dubberly, "you're unlikely to be able to say what feels good and what doesn't, never mind dealing with the potentially awkward aftermath."

5. Are you supple? No/Yes

Correct answer: Yes
Makes a 3-69 a lot easier. "A great position for a threesome is where each person gives the other oral pleasure," says Dubberly.
