Many people battle with sustained weight loss and believe that crash diets are the answer, but you can't lose weight without effort. Crash diets earned their name for a good reason

 
Muscle loss is inevitable when losing weight but it’s even more significant when following a crash diet. The only way to curb muscle loss is by combining exercise with a sensible diet consisting of reduced portions of grains and cereals, fruit and vegetables, milk and milk products, meat, fish and/or chicken, legumes and a modest amount of fat and sugar.

Crash diets are notorious for causing hunger pangs, food cravings and rapid weight loss which are absolute no-no’s if you want to lose weight and keep it off. Try not to lose more than 0,5 to 1kg a week.

Those fad diets also emphasise specific foods or the omission of entire food groups which is not recommended. Although weight gain is often the sum total of numerous factors, it’s important to address the eating habits that got you into your ‘weighty situation’ in the first place. Following a balanced weight-reducing diet will enable you to form sound eating habits that can be maintained.

Before you succumb to the lure of false fad diet promises remember that both being fat and following a ridiculous crash diet makes you equally miserable.

Rather follow a balanced slimming diet that guarantees the consumption of sufficient vitamins and minerals to keep you healthy and help you to maintain your blood sugar levels. This will curb your cravings and keep you away from that foul mood associated with strict, crash dieting.
