After 7 years of Isidingo Hlubi is heading off to Europe and Neverland.

She's managed to survive a terminal illness thanks to her faith and deep love for her husband Parsons, who was willing to risk it all to save her. Since then Nandipha hasn't been doing much on The Deep and on 7 December we'll see loveable Nan jetting off to Paris and Milan to model for a clothing label that wants to promote HIV/Aids awareness.

We caught up with Hlubi Mboya, who plays the character, to find out more about her character's journey and what she has planned for her time away from Isidingo.

What made Nandipha choose the modelling job in Paris and Milan?
Basically it's an HIV/Aids campaign for clothing designer Johnny Rio. He's doing a fashion show and, with Nandipha being the HIV speaker in South Africa, she figures what better way to spread the word?

What will her departure mean for her relationship with Parsons?
I think it will be a true test of it – this is the first time they'll be separated for a whole month. But at the same time I think they have a strong enough relationship to keep the fire burning over the telephone.

Were you involved in the decision about Nandipha leaving?
I'm leaving because of a theatre production I'll be involved in till December.

Care to reveal a bit more?
I'll be playing Tinkerbell in the theatre production of Peter Pan at the JHB Civic Theatre until the end of December. I'm actually quite excited about it.

Is this the first time you've taken a break from the show?
I've been on Isidingo for seven years and yes, this is the first time I'm taking a break. I feel a bit out of synch but it also feels good and I want to come back to the show revived and revitalised.

What else are you looking forward to doing with your time away?
I'll be focusing all my energy on the play so I won't have much time for myself. I would really like to stretch myself as an actress and I'm hoping Tinkerbell can open up that door for me!

I'm not a fan of Isidingo because the soapie does not make sense to me.It is all fake if you ask me.They must stop all S.A. soapies because they are not that interesting to look at.

Isidingo is one of the best soapies in SA if you look at the standard perforamance of Isidingo as a whole you will swear its an international soap. Nandipa is one of my favourate Actress i will really miss her, Best wishes to yr journey not to forget the fun of being modelling out there.

U know sometimes it's hard to say goodbye, especially when u leave someone u luv. Nandi is the best, vibrant & successful actor. Everytime when I'm watching her doing her thing on tv she's always the best. Hlubi I'm wishing u the best of luck in career & looking forward 2 see u soon on our S.A screens!!!!!!

I found Isidingo too frustrating to watch when they went to sub-titles and feel they have lost the plot. The story lines have become too black and Id rather they move the show, together with Noleen to SABC1. It's supposed to be about life on a mine and those who live there - what happened. I won't miss Nan but do hope the show can return to it's original plots - too much like Generations now!

Pity they don't write her out of it permanantly with her perpetual whining voice.

A break well deserved! Hlubi you're a star my girl keep it up. We'll definately miss you.
Bandi on 06.12.2007 at 13:58

No. I think her role in Isidingo is redundant. I think she should move to Europe permanently, meet a hunk there and ask Parsons for a divorce. So that Parsons can start seeing someone else.
