Question
Good day Anne
When my husband and I first starting talking about having kids, we realised we both wanted to adopt.
It really was the greatest feeling.
Not so long ago, we discovered that we both are not very fertile. I have a few complications with my ovaries and my husband is diabetic.
We know we have a lot of love in us to share and we think now is the right time to begin our search for our baby.
We need help with were do we begin and what do we do?
Please can you shed some light on adoptions in South Africa?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Lucelle
Answer
Dear Lucelle,The best place to start is by phoning a good Adoption Social Worker - the S.A. Association of Social Workers in Private Practice will be able to help you on 011 887 1968 or Melanie Van Emmenes in Cape Town at 082 786 5297.
I really do hope that someone can help you - it is a complicated legal process which needs expert handling.
Very good luck
- Anne Cawood
