Question
Last year, after about 7 years of trying to get pregnant I was diagnosed with PCOS. The specialist told me they could possibly assist us in getting pregnant with IVF. They are however concerned with the fact that I suffer from highblood pressure and was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 at the same time. They have also explained to us that the chances of falling pregnant using IVF is very slim. Is there no other treatment I can use to try and fall pregnant on my own without surgery?
Answer
The high blood pressure is not a problem for IVF but a problem for the pregnancy as you have a chance of developing serious pregnancy complications. The chance of you falling pregnant depends on your age. Patients with PCOS can fall pregnant with IVF. There is another way which is laparoscopic surgery and so called ovarian drilling. It will make you more likely to ovulate on your own. Is your husband's sperm test normal?- Dr Wiswedel
