I had just spent the last two hours cycling like Lance Armstrong, squatting like a sumo wrestler and doing headstands like Madonna, and I was no closer to looking like I walked off the pages off Sport Illustrated. And all of that was on an appalling hangover. Readers, I was feeling bitter.

Then I looked around... and I was startled to see the big bums, flabby tums and far from perfect breasts on display, everywhere. In my own self-obsession, I somehow had managed to miss that very few of us have it all. Fabulous Boobs was saddled with a big bum, Perfect Legs had no boobs, Perfect Boobs and Legs had a paunchy tummy. Gisele is actually a freak of nature with the perfectly proportioned body. We have just convinced ourselves otherwise.

There is a sense of comfort in the ladies changing room that should really be celebrated in bedrooms all around South Africa. Instead we are all diving for the lights before getting naked. And the worst of it is that we think if we point out our flaws first, he knows we are aware of it and because we have acknowledged the problem its relevance is diminished.

The problem with this logic is the poor bloke is so keen to see the upside of some action his brain does not even process our self-imposed imperfections. You are pointing out a flaw that two seconds ago did not even register in his tiny over stimulated brain.

I used to hate the way my boobs looked when on top. I was convinced they looked like they had been milked one too many times, nowhere near as round and lush as I thought they should be. My solution was to have sex with my bra on. Frankly this was ridiculous, instead of having a good time I was strategising the 101 ways to not let him take my bra off.

How many times have you found yourself deflecting a compliment about your luscious bum with the reply "yes but I have cellulite, can you not see the orange peel?" Ladies, most men think orange peel is, well... an orange peel. Hence the puzzled expression he gave you when you grabbed a handful of your bum and gave it a shake.

Unless he is seeking absolute perfection (generally confined to completely anally retentive bastards who probably have small willies and would probably rather be doing themselves) he will be happy to get down to some bedroom shenanigans with a few extra rolls, unruly hairs and less than perky breasts. As long as your nipples are sensitive, he won't care if they are to be found near your chin or your belly button.

Just highlight your good bits, do not mention your bad bits and get on with having a good time... which is the sexiest thing of all. There is nothing hotter than a woman who is comfortable in her own skin, celebrating life and indulging in the most fun she can have with her body.
