  • Each episode’s food is bought and prepared on the day of filming.

  • The juicer in T&T doesn’t work – sound effects are added in post-production.

  • The red wine used is actually Coke that has been mixed with raspberry syrup.

  • White wine (and sometimes red) is grape juice and water.

  • Food is made for about 100 people daily.

  • 20 boxes of paper are used up every month.

  • 50 manuscripts are issued daily.

  • Six bottles of hairspray and five litres of shampoo and conditioner are used every month.

  • Around 40 auditions are hosted every week.

  • The soap features around 17 permanent actors and 10 guest stars. An average of 18 extras are used every day.

  • 30 outfits are washed and ironed daily to ensure the actors’ wardrobes are good and clean and fresh.

  • A tech team of 60, as well as a head writer and five writers, are needed to keep the programme on air.

  • Cast members learn around 2500 words every week.

  • Oppiekoffie’s clients eat around R500 worth of food every day.
