What is going on on that island and where's it leading us? tvplus answers some burning questions and poses some new riddles – like what on Earth is going on in Tony's head? Is that even Tony? If you simply cannot wait to find out what is going on, here are some of the mysteries explained!

Tony has gone to the trouble of messing with Marlena's mind to cover up nine 'murders,' faked medical evidence, created body doubles, and faked his own death by convenient tiger (it was Bill's tiger, not Tony's, remember).

To top that off, he has also kidnapped and relocated Salem's citizens to a remote Caribbean Island under a military no fly zone, constructed a replica of Salem in which the residents' houses can be constructed overnight isolated his victims with a force field, arranged for their ghostly visits to the grieving loved ones, and rigged the entire lot to blow at the touch of a button by harnessing the power of a volcano for one reason only.

He's sulking. His reasons, which he gloats over at length, are to take revenge against his half-brother John Black for being the better man and thereby stealing Tony's love Kristen, and secondly, to prove himself a more vicious mastermind than his father Stefano. So there!

What you need to know
The island is Tony's human zoo. It's surrounded by a force field – like the dinosaur pens in Jurassic Park. Access is controlled via a keypad. Patrick later tells Hope that she can jam the force field by 'hitting the keys in an even and then an odd number sequence.' Or you could simply nick his pirate coin and pop it in the slot.

When John and Bo find a map of the island (which has the same shape as South America), they don't immediately figure out the importance of the name on the chart – Melaswen.

So much for an ISA agent and a cop! Then they place a reflective paperweight on the map and see the words New Salem. And here's the whoops – the letters E, L, S and N should be reversed in the reflection but they aren't.

Keep an eye on Tony's ring finger. If he's wearing a wedding ring, it's not Tony! Tony is also right handed while Andre, his evil-er twin is left handed.

Is Stefano alive? When Stefano's will was read, Tony revealed that he'd last seen his father in Monte Carlo. The ISA was unable to trace him there. Back in Salem, though, Tek mentions that Stefano was last seen in a place named Harmony.

A note about the Phoenix ring the DiMeras wear – it's said to be able to bring the wearer back from death's door. After a while, it starts to glow on Tony's hand. People seemingly unrelated to Tony’s plot are also on the island.

Billie, Colin and Victor, Bo, Hope, Jen, John and Patrick wind up on the island, too, leaving only a few familiar faces to rattle round the real Salem.

When the islanders eventually escape after John "kills" Tony during a duel in his Zen chamber, Tony sets off the volcano. The resulting explosion sets off a tidal wave which swamps the getaway craft and just as they were reunited, Salem's lovers are torn apart again.

Marlena, Roman, Jack, Cassie, Victor, Caroline, and Colin are presumed dead. When they arrive back in Salem, Maggie discovers she's not as happy with Mickey moving on as she believed she’d be (plus, hello, Mickey, you look different).

Abe goes blind and John becomes a drug addict thanks to Sami, who blames him for her parents' deaths and drugs his IV line. In a castle somewhere in Europe, Tony holds Marlena, Roman, Jack, Cassie, Victor and Caroline prisoner and Caroline and Victor and Roman and Marlena get romantic.

What happened to Colin? Well, that's the real mystery!

I think the guys writing days these days need to have their heads read. Their stories lines are getting so far fetched its hard to believe them. And will someone please slap Sammy!

I agree with Wendy. Come on now s@!% like this doesn't happen in real life and we're all tired of the amount of times that Stefano & whoever else dies and then 'comes back' because someone found them barely alive and helps them recuperate. Really now! Damn, I could write a better plot!
