Once upon a time...
We have love lives that sometimes resembles fairy tales, some good and some bad. So are you Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty or Shrek's Princess Fiona?
Article: Erla-Mari Diedericks from Ideas

Once upon a time, a princess met her prince, they fell in love and lived happily ever after. Yet, here you are today, with no knight in sight and no white horse to bring him to you. Or have you found your prince, but you're still waiting for the "happily ever after"? Not every romance is a fairy tale but you can have a happy ending ... just sit back, relax and let us read you a story.

Sleeping Beauty

Once upon a time a king and queen had a beautiful baby girl and they invited all the fairy godmothers to the baby's christening. However, the queen forgot to invite one of the fairy godmothers and the fairy godmother was furious. She gatecrashed the party and put a curse on the baby girl: when the princess turned 16, she would prick her finger and die. One of the good fairy godmothers could make a wish and although she could not lift the curse, she altered it so that the girl would only fall asleep and not die, but she had to be awoken by the kiss of a prince.

When the princess turned 16, everything happened just as the curse had predicted. The years sped by. The princess slumbered until, one day, a prince came galloping through the kingdom, found the princess and kissed her. When she opened her eyes, she said: "Where have you been? I have been dreaming about you my whole life." They married and lived happily ever after.

Are you still dreaming of being swept off your feet by someone who will find you wherever you are and turn out to be the love of your life? You need to wake up.

The problem with being a Sleeping Beauty is that none of us live in a fairy tale. We live in a world where princes and princesses get divorced and where those who snooze, lose. You need to get out there and into the dating game if you want to find love.

In order to change from a Sleeping Beauty into a Dateable Beauty, you need to put the following on your to-do list:

  • Be happy

Not even a frog will kiss a grumpy face. If you do not like yourself, how will someone else be able to like you? A negative outlook is the worst curse you can put on yourself. It will paralyse you and you will be too scared to take a chance on love.

  • Live a full life

Do you want to slumber your life away, only to elope with the first man to come along? The worst mistake is to think that life or happiness only starts once you have found love. Love is what happens when you are happy. Express yourself through hobbies and varied interests, build strong friendships and follow your passions.

  • Know what went wrong in the past

It helps to understand what went wrong in relationships that failed. Were you too clingy? Was he too possessive? Did you fight all the time? See if there are any similar patterns to past relationships. Dealing with these issues on your own or with a psychologist could rid you of any curses that might still be lurking, ready to destroy new love.

  • Know what you want

Do you want Prince Permanent or Prince Charming for Now? Are you ready for a committed relationship? What characteristics are you looking for in a man? Know what you want and you will be able to avoid mistakes made in the name of passion.

Wake up Sleeping Beauty. Get out there and find your prince. Use Cinderella as guidance.
