Women24.com's Female Nation Survey results were released today, and boy... were there some interesting sex stats for us to get our teeth into.

Here are a few highlights (and a few lowlights):

  • 79% of SA women say they enjoy sex most or all of the time.
  • Sex gets better with age, as 89% of 40-44 year-olds enjoy it all or most (56%) of the time.
  • Half of SA women don't masturbate (or at least, won't admit to it, even in an online survey)
  • 3% of SA women never enjoy sex. Of these, two thirds don't masturbate.
  • 4% of SA women fake orgasm all the time, of which two thirds say they enjoy sex all the time. Go figure.
  • 1 in 3 SA women fake orgasm sometimes.
  • Only 16% of straight women own sex toys, while half of other sexual orientations have a little (possibly buzzy) interest in the nightstand.
  • A whopping 90% of gay women enjoy sex either most of the time or all of the time.

And most bizarrely, the group of women who most enjoy sex are those with children under a year old! How can that be true?

We'd love to hear your opinions on these statistics. True? Bizarre? Let us know, by making use of the comment facility below. We'd love to hear from you...

    * The Female Nation Survey 2007 was designed, analysed and weighted by external quantitative researchers. The sample group of around 7 500 responses has been weighted (by age, race and income) to represent urba, SA women earning over R3 000, as per the SA Labour Force Survey of 2006; i.e.: some 2 million SA women.

I think it's all about confidence, George. I might be lumpier now than I used to be... but I am a damn sight better in bed. At least I think I am. And my husband SAYS I am.

For women it is better because their fire grows as they go into late 20's and early 30's. For me I used to have problems. Lets just say as I got older I ended up with a pap banana. However, in Nageria, there is medicine that helps me keep up with the raging fire of older women.

I really thought that more woman masturbated, are the girls a lil shy out there or is this a true indication?
Alice on 23 Mar at 10:57

Wilma on 23 Mar at 11:02

I have never been able to figure out why females feel the need to fake an orgasm. Had a 7 year relationship and in the end found out she faked it for the entire relationship. Also found out that she was intrinsically dishonest by nature. As I have bedded an inordinate amount of females before and after I contacted most to find out if I lacked in technique or whatever, all attested to the contrary. In her defence she claimed that she has never been able to achieve a penile orgasm, ever - and needed to add concurrent manual stimulation to get there. Point is that I cant understand why some females feels 'less worthy' or a need to hide the fact that they need a slightly different approach to get there. Either way faking undermines the fibre of a relationship. I believe there are few things as satisfying to a man than totally satisfying his partner. Working through problems builds a strong and highly personal bond.

I'm 24 and have been sexually active for the past 7 yrs and can only remember coming once, I'm not to sure how to fake it and also the only time that I do is when I am on top and move my private part over his penis for a long time. Does that mean there is something wrong with me? My current boyfriend would like to know how to make me come, what do I say and he would like to know why don't I. Pls help me with this very important matter. Regards
