What is power scrapbooking?

Scrapbooking can be incredibly time-consuming, but there is a way to get more pages done in less time: power scrapbooking.

Scrapbooking can be very time consuming, and while it is any people's favourite hobby, few of us have enough time to spend on it. So the enthusiasts have come up with clever ways to get more pages done in less time: so-called power scrapbooking.

The secret is organisation, and following a step-by-step method:

  • Once you’ve selected your photos, file the negatives or save the photos in folders on your computer.

  • Sort and store the prints by grouping them as you would on a scrapbook page. This will save you flipping through all your photos later when you want to start compiling and creating the scrapbook pages. Use a file with plastic sleeves and place cardboard behind the photos in the same colour that you’ll be using for the scrapbook page.

  • Start by taking one selection out of a plastic sleeve, and placing all the tools and materials on your work surface.

  • Once your page is done, place it in the relevant album, in the correct place. Label each album clearly so that you can easily find the page again, if needed.

  • Mark pages that are not finished yet to make it easier to flip to the relevant page. Make notes to remind you what you still wanted to do with that page.
  • File extra photos in boxes with category dividers for easy access.
