To make
COVERS
1 Use a craft knife, cutting mat and a metal ruler to cut out two 200 x 200mm pieces of 3mm cardboard.
2 Cover one side of the cardboard with patterned cardstock in a colourful design using double-sided tape. Lightly sand the edges to a smooth finish. Repeat to cover the other side of the cardboard, using the plain cardstock.
3 Age the edges of the card using brown liquid chalk, then repeat with the gold liquid chalk.
4 Paint the clock hands with glaze and leave them to dry. (We used Plaid Glass Finish.)
5 Repeat with the round metal frame and the decorations, ensuring that the areas between the raised designs are covered. (You can stick small rhinestones or beads onto the wet glaze. Use a small pair of pliers to make the rhinestones easier to handle.)
6 Use a square punch to punch out squares from two sheets of cardstock in different patterns. Age the edges of the cardstock using brown and gold liquid chalk.
7 Attach the paper squares in a patchwork pattern to a piece of fabric measuring 170 x 170mm. Leave a few randomly spaced squares blank so the fabric is visible in places. Attach with double-sided tape once you are happy with the design.
8 Punch small holes through the paper and the fabric, where the squares will be joined.
9 Sew the squares together using gold DMC embroidery thread.
10 Attach your completed sheet of patchwork to one of the plain-coloured sheets of cardstock to form the cover.
11 Use a glue gun to attach faux flowers to the cover. Let some of the petals protrude over the edges of the cover, then cut them off neatly using a sharp pair of scissors.
12 Lightly sand the edges of a 35 x 50mm photograph and attach to the cover using double-sided tape. Add a sticker for extra decoration and reinforcement.
13 Use a glue gun to attach the glazed hands of the clock to the centre of the faux flowers. Attach a large, round button (with the hook at the back removed) to the round metal decoration and glue onto the hands of the clock.
14 Attach the metal frame to the cover using double-sided tape. Mount a round sticker onto a leftover piece of dark cardboard and glue in position inside the frame. Repeat to attach the sticker below the frame.
15 Glue the buttons and rhinestones to the two corners nearest the flowers to create a small frame.
16 Use a square punch to punch out more squares from two sheets of cardstock in different patterns. Age the edges of the squares using brown and gold liquid chalk. Attach the paper squares in a patchwork pattern to the remaining sheet of plain cardstock, using double-sided tape.
17 Reduce the 200 x 250mm photographs to 200 x 200mm and lightly sand the edges to a smooth finish.
18 Glue the photographs to the undecorated side of the plain cardstock and onto the remaining sheets of plain cardstock, then age the edges with brown and gold liquid chalk.
19 Use rub-on transfers to write a caption for each photograph.
BINDING
20 Neatly stack the pages of your mini album and mark where the holes for the metal binding rings will be. Use a onehole punch to make the holes, tapping it lightly with a scrapbooking hammer. Repeat for the covers.
21 Insert the metal eyelets into the holes in the covers and use an eyelet setter and scrapbooking hammer to secure them.
22 Hook the rings through the holes in the front and back covers to bind them. Decorate the front of the mini album with remnants of ribbon.
