Wedding dress care
Your wedding dress is the most precious (and quite likely, most expensive) garment you'll ever wear, so you'll want to keep it looking its best forever
If you want to preserve your wedding dress, don't delay in having it professionally cleaned and stored. Wait too long and the remnants of your big bash (red wine and make-up smudges) will leave their mark permanently.
Some tips for cleaning and storing:
keep the bag your dress came in – it's useful for storage in between the wedding and the cleaners.
choose a professional dry cleaner. Your dress-maker, or any haute couture shop, should be able to recommend a dependable one in your area.
Make arrangements in advance for a friend or family member to take your dress to be cleaned if you're going away on honeymoon.
Check for stains (look inside and out) and point them out to your cleaner. Also make a note of any delicate adornments that might have been glued on to the dress.
Store your dress in a temperate, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
Inspect your dress every six months or so to make sure it's not yellowing, and allow it to breathe.
Hanging your dress may cause the neck and shoulders to stretch.
