Going back to work can be such a drag. After spending hour upon hour in the sun nothing fades a tan faster than sitting at your desk in a chilly air-conditioned office, slaving ayay 8 hours at a time.
But never fear! There are ways to maintain your healthy tan, and without resorting to streaky fake tans. These featured body lotions contain a small amount of fake tan, and so not only moisturise, but also give your skin a subtle glow that develops over a few days.
However, please remember that the same fake tan principles apply... spread evenly, exfoliate and don't forget to wash your hands. Most of these gradual tan products look and smell like normal body moisturisers, so don't get carried away just because you can't see any colour change as you apply.
Our top 5
1. Holiday Skin Body Lotion, by Johnson's
Smooth application, with a slight smell. But it's now also available in a night cream so you can don after you bath and wake up tanned and glowing.
2. Build-a-Tan Gradual Sunless Tanning, R79,95, by Neutrogena
This moisturising lotion is non-greasy and contains a broad-spectrum SPF20 to protect against sun damage.
3. Gradual Tan Self Tan Lotion, R39,99, by Nivea Sun
Enriched with Vitamin E and Macadamia Oil for extra moisture.
4. Nutrisummer body 24hr moisturising lotion gradual sun kissed look, R89,95, by L’Oréal Paris
Incredibly light and delicately fragranced the formula gives an immediate fresh sensation. It's non greasy formula means it's absorbed in an instant.
5. Summer Glow Body Lotion, R29,99 by Dove
The consistency and smell are so much like a body lotion, you might forget you're applying a self tan, and it's the most reasonably priced.

| Neutrogena is great - gives the most natural colour without staining white underwear and it has a sun protection factor | ||

| I'm afraid I have to agree with Avril, had the same nasty experience with the Johnson's cream and still have 1/2 a bottle standing abandoned in a cupboard. Don't know if they've improved the formula and outcome with the Night cream version? | ||
