Box of tricks
Vaseline: It keeps eyebrows in line (apply with a washed mascara wand or toothbrush), softens heels at night under socks (cut off the toes if it's too hot), and fixes make-up smudges (with a cotton bud).
Lavender oil: It is an exceptional essential oil, because it can be applied directly to the skin. Apply to a spot to soothe, to your temples to calm and to your bath to relax. It's also good to relieve sunburn and, when dotted on your pillow, it may help you sleep better.
Cotton buds: They can be used to erase smudges and creases.
Nail file: Somehow you can never find one when you need it.
A good pair of tweezers: Worth its weight in gold, you should invest in the best pair you can afford – it should last a lifetime.
Toe separators: They help to keep toes apart while you're applying nail polish, which prevents smudging.
Nail polish remover pads: These are useful for emergencies. No mess, no fuss – when you have to fix a nail in a hurry.
Sharpener: Invest in a sharpener that has a small size as well as a large size. A box that catches the shavings is also really helpful.
Hand mirror: You cannot apply mascara or liquid liner without a hand mirror. Hold it at bust level to prevent eyelid smudges.
Silicone serum: It's the best solution for frizzy and unmanageable hair. Rub a small quantity between the palms of your hands and then disperse through the hair, starting from mid-length down. Use what remains on the front sections, which usually get a pounding during heat styling.
Lip balm: One with a high SPF will keep your lips looking smooth and feeling soft.
Blotting papers: These are useful for keeping your complexion looking fresh. Rather than powdering directly over shine, blot oil first, then follow with powder. Skin will look smoother.
Spatula: Just what you need to get to the bottom of a lipstick tube. You will be amazed at how much is left in the tube after the top part flattens.
