Most major sports brands design a special range of sports wear specifically for the fashion market. Hip Hop music celebrities like, Missy Elliot and Jay-Z helped making sportswear fashionable.

Here's the latest on this hot fashion trend: Active wear.

  • When shopping for the gym, keep your wardrobe in mind. The colour and design of sports gear follow the fashion trends which will make it blend in with your existing summer or winter wardrobe.

  • Active wear is also more durable in terms of fabric and finish and therefore ideal for every day wear. Built-in bust support makes sports wear tops a very comfortable option for women. Fabrics are "sweat friendly" and contain more Lycra which helps the garments keep it's the shape and fit.

  • It will also be useful as casual wear with jeans or upcoming summers ethnic inspired skirts.

  • Hot pants can double up as swimwear and sporty jackets have been fashionable as casual wear for the last five seasons.

  • Active footwear is especially fashionable this season and will always look fantastic with jeans. Choose a pair in a colour that will match your gym as well as casual wear wardrobe. Trainers are made to withstand rough treatment and are therefore excellent value for money. Many prominent sports brands, like Nike, sells footwear that are only meant to be worn as fashion items and not in the gym so make sure you know what you are buying.

  • Of course a tracksuit will never be suitable for the office, but brightly coloured tank top will work beautifully under your black suit for summer. It is always wiser, though, to stick with timeless classic colours like black, white, beige, red, navy or cream.
