The little black dress

Jenna Shevel pays homage to the LBD.

The LBD
The little black dress is so popular it's even got its own acronym. The LBD is an icon. The little black dress to a woman is what the little black book is too a man. This fashion staple has stood the test of time; it's surpassed every fashion fad, style, season and historical upheaval.

Legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld said 'One can never be underdressed or overdressed in a little black dress' and how true these words are. There is that moment that every woman experiences when asked to go to a event, whether it's a lunch, a dinner, party, or family affair, is what the hell am I going to wear?

A lesson in fashion
I have known the importance of the LBD since I was a little girl. We were attending a family barmitzvah that was fancy evening dinner dance and my mother decided to wear this gorgeous pink number (it was the late 80s) but when we arrived she was the only woman, and I mean only woman not wearing black. She stuck out in a sea of black and lucky for me has no problem finding my parents on the dance floor. Ever since that night the benefits and importance of the little black dress has remained in my mind and my mom's who never again wore a colour to a function.

A little black dress is a wardrobe staple every woman should have and the best fashion investment you could ever make. Owning a little black dress has simply become a rule of fashion. It is vital to own a simple, versatile, stylish and elegant black dress. The LBD is the fashion chameleon that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. It's a canvas to create your own look. It looks fabulous in the day with a pair of fun pumps and handbag. And it sure does clean up nicely for the evening with a pair of sexy stilettos, a gorgeous clutch bag and stunning accessories. Instant glam!

The first little black dress
The LBD is actually turning 82 years old this year; it's seen a world war and many little ones and still has remained the epitome of great style and effortless elegance.

The genius behind it? Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel. In 1926 her 'little black dress', the first, appeared in the fashion bible Vogue. Chanel's LBD was simple in design, a silk calf-length, straight and decorated with only a few pin-tucks. The LBD represented all that the legendary fashion label stood for: comfort, style, elegance, practically and self-assured sexiness.

Chanel's black dress was likened to the Ford 'T Model' Car, which was an icon at the time. Vogue called it the 'Chanel Ford'. As Henry Ford intended his T Model car to be simple and accessible to all classes, Coco Chanel wanted her LBD to be the same for women everywhere (and some men today!). Vogue also predicted that it was to become 'a sort of uniform for all women of taste' and that sure was on the mark

Love the LBD
Women through the decades have universally loved the LBD. It's an item that lets you shine. It flatters you and allows your hair, accessories and your personality to be the center of attention and best of all it's super sliming, all in all the LBD is a woman's BFFE.

The article was okay. But why are all the comments very similar. They all end with either "Please do more" or Keep it Up. Are these real people commenting of some auto system?
