This inspirational showcase of young South African designers once again drew attention to the wealth of talent we have in this country, with Tiaan Nagel taking top honours this year.

The success of Tiaan's sporty couture collection titled "Mooi Goed Orchestrated Chaos", was best summed up by Dion Chang, one of this year's judges, "These designs are innovative, practical and immaculately constructed. Tiaan's modern fashion mindset is the way forward and displayed a convicted synergy with Elle's fashion ideologies. By describing his fashion muse as 'a modern woman wearing Balngiaga while enjoying a bowl of two-minute noodles', Tiaan examplified precisely what we were looking for!"

Elle New Talent 2006 winner: Tony Mestre
Tony Mestre presented his debut collection, under the label MISTISM, at Sanlam SA Fashion Week 2007. The collection focused on a dominant colour palette of black, white and silver with silver foil printing and embroidery. The range also played with lengths and shape, from the shortest skirt to a floor sweeping silver dress.

Titled "Welcome to the Museum 2084", Carina Louw's collection was inspired by skeletal structures. Cut-outs, pleats and folds forming innovative shapes with a primarily leather range.

With big bows, geometric shapes, large shoulder action and plastic-like fabrics, Luke Radloff's collection was also rather futuristic, with a prominent insignia giving the collection coherence.
