I LUV IT ! LUV IT! LUV IT!
There is such freedom in getting older. I am not embarrassed. I do what I want. If anyone doesn't like it, that's their loss. If anyone doesn't like me – well, I accept that the whole world doesn’t have to like me – but I need to like myself, and I do, wrinkles, wobbly bits, overhangs and all !
Sure I would love to have the masses of bouncy hair (without every week at the hairdresser and help from L'oreal), and the great figure, and the no wrinkles and the boobs that don't NEED a bra etc etc etc.
But if I had to give up the freedom of being really my own person – Naaaah!
It's not that I don't care or respect the opinions of those around me, particularly those I love, but nonetheless, I live by my own beliefs and opinions, without apology. And its comfortable. I don't take the world so seriously. It's fun. I laugh – at myself as well as those around me.
I see the small joys in every day. And yes I see the little hurts and the difficulties too, but I know it all moves on eventually. Now I can understand and live by the concept of "This too shall pass" – something I found very difficult when I was younger. Life was sooooo serious then.
Now I have 3 children all grown up, with all their ups and downs, 8 granchildren, my own small business, a second marriage that's wonderful... I also have CFS/ Fibromyalgia, and coping with this life-changing illness has been my greatest teacher. And I still have so much more to do and learn.
Maiden, Mother, Crone... I am heading towards Cronehood – at a run !
