Taking the training world by storm
Shamillah is driven by the philosophy that if you can dream it, you can achieve it.
Shamillah Wilson has worked extensively in educational institutions, government and also non-profit organisations for the last 13 years. From 2001 to 2006, she was a global Program Manager for the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) responsible for developing leadership among young women globally. During this time, Shamillah developed extensive international networks in the area of women's rights and development.

While she was working for AWID, she also ran her own youth organisation (the HIV learners' network, which is still functional today) and was a member of several Boards including the Youth Against AIDS Network. Shamillah is also a regional Advisor for the Global Fund for Women, a grant making institution based in San Francisco. In 2006, she, together with Dean Peacock and Bafana Khumalo, founded Sonke Gender Justice Network (SGJN); an organisation committed to working with men to end violence against women. Shamillah is currently the Chairperson of the SGJN.

At the end of 2006, she decided to expand her horizons into entrepreneurship and started Sowilo Leadership Solutions as training and development is one of her greatest passions in life. She qualified as an international professional coach and added this and a range of other consultancy services to the repertoire that Sowilo offers.

Then, in October 2007, when a close friend announced that she was selling her recruitment business, Shamillah saw the opportunity to bring together a whole host of service and product offerings that would address the development of individuals, groups and organisations. CareerVision therefore became Sowilo's sister company and has expanded its brief to also offer strategic human resource solutions in line with the human capital approach.

On top of all her businesses, she is also completing an MBA degree and still actively engaged in a range of international networks. All this to say – that she loves challenges and enjoys juggling several balls at the same time and doing it well!

Shamillah is driven by the philosophy that anything one can conceive is possible and has really applied this to her business and personal life. She is passionate about unleashing potential in others and is constantly striving to find new ways of thinking and doing. Although she started out with this business on her own, the Sowilo – Career Vision team now includes a total of 7 hard-working, passionate and driven young women, each one committed to be extraordinary.
