The book includes contributions from some big gourmet-foodie hitters such as Daniel Boulud (multi-award winning chef), Bobby Flay (Food Network host and owner of five restaurants), Norma Jean Darden (the queen of Southern-cuisine) and some more obvious contributions from Gayle King (best friend), Maya Angelou (mentor), Colin Cowie (personal party planner) and Andre Walker (Oprah's hairdresser).
The layout follows the style of the O magazine and it is fun and quite easy to follow. While some of the pictures leap off the page, it's inconsistent and one would expect something a bit more daring on the food styling front.
It also contains interesting anecdotes from the contributors and I found the back section very helpful with its easy guide for recipes that are healthy, easy to make and those that are best for entertaining .
The recipes are truly delicious and I wouldn't mind having this cookbook in my kitchen for making a dish for a special occasion or just a simple dinner in front of the telly while watching an Oprah re-run.
One can only imagine that with the almost godlike pull of Miss Winfrey, that it will be sold out before you can say "spaghetti bolognaise". So don't dilly-dally getting your hands on this one.
