Swimmer Cameron van der Burgh has not only done SA proud by winning our first gold, but he has taken it a step further by breaking a world record too.
How proud are we right now?
Just when we thought China and the US were going to walk away with all the gold, along comes golden boy Cameron van der Burgh, who proved that South Africa has what it takes to dominate in the Olympics. He made us super proud by winning the gold medal for the 100m breaststroke event on Sunday night. Cam is also the first South African male in history to win gold in an individual swimming event.
Let’s hope Cam’s brilliant performance serves as motivation for our other athletes.
