A new drug is being developed that might negate the effects of alcohol on the brain. The point? To discourage heavy drinkers.
Imagine drinking without the getting drunk bit. Personally I wonder why one would do that, but researchers from Yale University in the U.S. thought that it would be a good idea.
They hope that by stopping alcohol from getting to work on particular brain cells, the drug could wean heavy drinkers off alcohol by taking some of the pleasure out of drinking.
Logic would suggest that alcoholics who can’t say no to the bottle, would then just say no to the pill. Or am I wrong? Help me here.
