I have inactive thyroid glands (hypothyroism) and am taking chronic medicine of 0.1mg eltroxin. What foods are best for me to lose weight because I gain weight very easily and it is very hard to lose weight. I am currently about 10kg's overweight according to my height. Please help as I m getting married in November and want to lose this excess weight at a reasonable rate?

Hi Mel,
You need to adopt a high protein, low carbohydrate diet.
This basically means:
Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, but stay away from the veg that is high in starch like butternuts, carrots, mielies, potatoes.
Adopt sweet potatoes rather as your starch but try to eliminate any carbs for your evening meal.
Stay away from bread - rye bread is fine - have 1-2 pieces for breakfast/lunch.
Eat lean proteins like fish, chicken, pork fillet, turkey, venison etc.
Drink a lot of water and eat smaller meals, often, to kick-start your metabolism. Snack on low calorie things like celery, cucumber.
Exercise! At least 3 times a week. If you are serious about losing weight, spinning is the best way to get results fast and is very important for your metabolism.
