Six 7de Laan actors flew down to Port Elizabeth to take part in a fundraiser held by the Radisson Blu Hotel in Port Elizabeth for the Missionvale Water for Life Project.
Heino Schmitt, Hildegardt Whites, Jo da Silva and her daughter Caitlin, Melanie du Bois, Mimi Mahlasela and Werner Coetser made time in their busy schedules recently to help raise funds for the supply of much-needed water tanks in the area which will help to improve the quality of life of the 8000 or so impoverished people who lack some very basic necessities that many of us take for granted.
The programme, set out over a weekend, consisted of photographs, autograph signing, a cooking competition, soccer and a potjiekos battle.
And...
Despite the actors’ full agenda, a very ill Jo da Silva took it in her stride for a request from Reach for a Dream.
13-year-old Christa who undergoes daily dialysis until she gets a kidney transplant, is an avid 7delaan viewer and her biggest dearest dream was to meet Jo a.k.a. “Gita” in real life.
We would like to wish young Christa all the best with her treatment. May her operation be a resounding success.
And we trust the people of Missionvale will soon see an improvement in their infrastructure and quality of life.
