Whitney Houston, a legend in the entertainment industry has passed on, but we won’t forget her memory.
48-year-old singer Whitney Houston died in a Beverly Hilton hills hotel on Saturday. She was discovered by her aunt, Mary Jones in the bathtub who called for help. Whitney’s head was submerged underwater when she was pulled out of the tub by her aunt.
When police arrived at the scene, she was announced dead by the paramedics at 3.55pm. The police found no signs of foul play, but an investigation has begun.
According to her mother, Cissy Houston, she spoke to Whitney just before her death and she seemed fine over the phone.
The prescription drug, Xanax, was discovered in Whitney’s room and a family member confirmed she has been using drug. Commonly Xanax is used to treat anxiety.
Even if there were no signs of alcohol in her room, she was drinking and parting at the bar of the hotel with friends the night before her death. When Xanax is consumed with alcohol it can cause drowsiness.
According to TMZ the family has been told that Whitney died of a mixture of Xanax and other prescription drugs and alcohol.
Whitney had one child, Bobbi Kristina, with ex-husband Bobby Brown. Houston and Brown were married for 14-years and divorced in 2007.
Although Brown and Whitney had a very rocky relationship filled with drugs and alcohol, Brown broke down at the news of his ex-wife as he is “in and out of crying fits."
18-year-old Bobbi Kristina was rushed to the hospital twice since the death of her mother and apparently her family members fear that she is suicidal.
Whitney won two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards during her record-breaking career. Her album "Whitney" was the first female album to ever debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. She has sold 200 million albums worldwide.
On the day she died, she was due to perform at the Grammy’s pre-party just 4 floors down from her room.
Whitney will not just be missed by her family, but also by her fellow stars and devoted fans.
