You’ve got to love Hollywood lawyers. Usually, divorce is a long, drawn-out, messy affair – even if you’re not a celebrity- but, Tomkat have reached a divorce settlement less than two weeks after their split was announced.
Katie’s lawyer, Jonathan Wolfe, said in a statement: “This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”
That was quick. Mr Wolfe also adds: “We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”
Katie and Tom also issued a joint statement, saying: “We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests.
“We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”
The former couple’s lawyers are keeping mum about the agreement, but it has been reported that Suri will stay with her mom under the new custody arrangement, which gives Tom generous visitation rights.
But, wait, there’s more…
It has now been revealed that Katie used a disposable cell phone to concoct her little escape plan from Tom.
My, my. Who knew Katie was so devious? According to the Los Angeles Times, Katie was able to contact her divorce lawyers in secret with a phone that was provided by a friend.
