The rapper asked his Twitter followers if the term is acceptable if used in an endearing fashion. What do you think?
So, Kanye wrote a song about his current girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, entitled ‘Perfect Bitch’. It was intended as a compliment, but, was it really?
Personally, I don’t listen to hip-hop or rap, but, when I heard Kanye tweeted that the song was indeed about Kim, I thought it was a bit insulting.
I’m sure he means well and that he feels for her, but calling your girlfriend a bitch? The song is apparently the story of the rapper’s past loves and him finding the ‘perfect bitch’.
Now, it seems the superstar is struggling with the word. He recently tweeted:
“I usually never tweet questions but I struggle with this so here goes… Is the word BITCH acceptable?”
He continued: “To be more specific, is it acceptable for a man to call a woman a bitch even if it’s endearing?”
“Even tying it in question form it’s (sic) still feels harsh,” says Mr West.
So, why the concern? “I was recently questioned about the use of the word BITCH in my music and initially was offended by anyone questioning anything in my music… I will admit that I sometimes go back (and) omit cursing from my records. I like to use profanity as a tool and not a crutch,” Kanye tweets.
He then says,: “I’m not tweeting to say what we need and what we don’t… I just wanted to think out loud with you guys today… #THEWORDBITCH.”
So, is it okay to call someone you love a ‘bitch’?
