The rapper/actor says Barack Obama was elected into office because of hip hop influence.
Ice T appeared on the Today Show and was speaking about the influence of jip hop on modern culture when he mentioned to the hosts, Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, that “(rap) put Barack Obama in the presidency. If it wasn’t for rap, white people wouldn’t have been so open to vote for somebody like Barack Obama.”
Kathie Lee, trying not to look shocked by the statement, responded by saying she hoped that Americans voted for Barack Obama because he was “a good candidate, and not because (he is) black.”
Ice T then replied: “That had to happen after their eyes were opened up, and hip-hop was what brought us together.”
