Butcher Boys (Amamzimtoti)'s Reviews

Dear Ntoentle, Thank you kindly for your comments, we always appreciate all feedback from our patrons. Although we specialise in red meat and our aging process thereof we do have a selection of seafood and chicken dishes as well as two lamb dishes for those that prefer. However, should our patrons be strictly vegetarian we do offer a vegetable platter and are open to accommodating any dietary requirements wherever possible. I apologise for the misunderstanding and for the fact that you were not aware of your alternative options. We look forward to welcoming you back to our establishment in the near future. Regards, Catherin-Louise.

Dear Phileen, Thank you for your input. I would like to confirm that Butcher Boys has a very strict intense training programme whereby three in-depth written tests regarding the menu items (preparation and ingredients), wine lists (including wine making, grape styles, ideal food accompaniments and wine service) and a manual test which incorporates all aspects of correct service and standards of our establishment. These need to be passed before employment is considered and we continue training by constant testing and training of our staff throughout their employment. Thus, the incident that happened was unfortunate and definitely not our normal business practice. We will continue to strive in service excellence. With thanks, Catherin-Louise.

Dear Patrons, I would like to express my thanks to all for your responses. The short skirt issue has caused quite a stir it would seem...it is not our aim to cause disrespect or insult to any of our patrons and we apologise for any offence caused. However, this is our uniform and we believe we present it proudly and stylishly. We will endeavour to excel in food and service excellence that our patrons are accustomed to. Kind regards, Catherin-Louise.

Your food is out of this world and the service is excellent. But can you have an alternative for those who don't eat beef. My parents were very impressed with the service but only they don't eat beef.

As I understand, these skirts are part of Butcher Boys trade mark... Or waitress' uniform for want of better description. Nice touch... to attract the boys. Food is always good, and I am yet to experience this poor service that is talked about. Keep it up Catherine-Louise... Good job. Thanks.

So where is this Butcher Boys with the hot waitresses in the short skirts.

The point of going out to eat primarily is for good food, the ambience and atmosphere. Revealing short skirts or hipsters on women or men are not part of the deal! Pray tell who wants to look up or down someone's legs or at their bottom when you are in the middle of a tasty bit of steak. Keep it covered, thank you.

When down in Amanzimtoti we always make sure that we visit the Butcher Boys. The food and service is always fantastic and we have never found the waitresses to be badly dressed or behaved. Maryna (Pretoria)

I think you guys have got it right. What sells the most in the world? Food of course ... but on the other hand why not have a little hors d'oeuvres for later on in the evening. I would strongly recommend that you get rid of smoking which is more dangerous than short skirts.

Natasha is right. In my experience I had a few cases where waitresses had their pants hanging for dear life on their pubic bones. The host could not keep his eyes of it much to the wife's annoyance. I feel waitraisses sell food and give good service. They are not to sell sex. I am not a conservative person but I believe in style. Keep in mind that the patron is seated and the server stand so the patrons eyes are navel level of the waitress. Same with too short skirts. There are places like Mavericks where they can work and that is ok. Hope this gives an answer to your question. Ellen

One way to encourage your client to forget about high prices, sub standard food and/or service is to draw the attention to something else. Too short skirts could be quite effective.

I definitely agree with Natasha that short skirts are a "No Go'. When one is dining out with your partner - perhaps celebrating a birthday or anniversary, you would not appreciate your partners eyes wandering over to the waitress with her leggy long legs all exposed. I know that 'men will be men', however I don't think that our guys would appreciate our table being served by a Greek god wearing nothing but a bowtie, sarong and a smile - now would they?

I know that Mugg and Bean do not allow any of their waitrons to serve on customers until they have passed a written exam with regard to items on the menu, ingredients and preparation methods. Perhaps Butcher Boys can learn from this? As for the short skirts . . .

Dear Natasha. As a restaurant that strives for excellence we have disappointed you, and ourselves. It is not our policy to allow untrained waitrons to serve tables, this will be investigated thoroughly, as we have a training programme followed by in depth tests before employment is considered. Also, as you have noted all food should be served together and we pride ourselves in top service so it is unthinkable why you were treated unprofessionally. The issue of being chased out was rude and I apologise most sincerely. Regarding the staff uniforms, we do not dictate the length of their dresses, the staff decides on the length based on their choice and comfort. I do however apologise if this was offensive to you, this was not our intention. Thank you for your feedback, this is how we can correct our shortcomings and deliver top service. Please accept our apology and hopefully on your next visit we can compensate you and prove our capabilities so to renew your faith in us.

Dear Butcher Boys Patron (Danielle), We thank you for your comment and we wish to apologise most sincerely for the disgusting attitude of the waitress. It is most embarrassing to have to hear that you were treated in such a fashion. I am sure you will understand that this is not and never has been acceptable. We have always prided ourselves with our excellent food and superb service to accompany that. It is a pity that we have been so let down by one of our team. If consolation at all we have dealt with this most intensely and I trust that this will never happen again. I trust that you will once again give us an opportunity to redeem ourselves and compensate in some way for the inconceivable attitude of the waitron. Looking forward to your next visit and once again apologies from all of us. With thanks Catherin-Louise Barber 031 903 7390

We went to eat at the Butcher Boys. The first mistake they made was to give us a trainee waitress. She did not know the menu nor did she know what got served with the meals. Every trainee waitress should study the menu before they start at a restaurant. Management should have approached us and let us know that she was a trainee. And if we would mind. Then my starters came and my partner?s starter only arrived after mine was finished. Food should arrive at the table at the same time. They started closing up not even asking if we would like some deserts or coffee. These short dresses that you make the waitresses wear are common. They can still look sexy in a little longer dress so that they can at least bend to pickup knifes and forks without showing their underwear. You should really consider doing something about your waiters as your food is excellent.

We ate at the Amanzimtoti branch a while back whilst on holiday and the attitude received by the waitress still gets to me. Good steaks, manager friendly, pity the waitress ruined our evening by her snobbish attitude towards us. We could even overhear her moaning to another waitress about some incident at work.
