…While we're on the topic of medical care, two of Grey's Anatomy's doctors are equally irresistible. Popularly known as McSteamy and McDreamy, Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey have etched their way into the hearts of female fans. This year, the show has been nominated for six Emmys, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Sharon Lawrence and Chandra Wilson) and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Sandra Oh).

We know comedians aren't hot in the traditional sense, but Neil Patrick Harris's cheeky sense of humour in "How I Met Your Mother" makes him endearingly likeable. Another funnyman (although he's more nerdy) is Jon Cryer from "Two and a Half Men". These two jokers get a nod for being able to make us laugh – plus they have been nominated for Emmys in the category for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Before starring as Don Draper in the series "Mad Men", Jon Hamm had roles in "30 Rock", "The Unit" and "CSI Miami". He is nominated alongside Hugh Laurie, Gabriel Byrne, Michael C. Hall, Bryan Cranston and Simon Baker. We don't know what the Emmy judges will decide but we still think he's the sexiest actor in this category!

Everything this sexy boy touches turns to gold. Now the singer/dancer/actor/fashion designer has won the award for his "Saturday Night Life" skits – the first host of the comedy series to win an Emmy! He also manages to keep us swooning with his slick pop beats and smooth dance moves.

Although "Nip/Tuck" has been nominated for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie or Special there are two characters who will never be in need of surgical enhancement. It's no surprise that gorgeous Dr Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) has women throwing themselves at him throughout the series, while Dr Sean McNamara's (Dylan Walsh) brilliant mind endears him to his patients.

Despite the challenges of living with Parkinson's Disease, Michael J. Fox managed to bag his first Emmy award for his guest role as an embittered, drug-addicted paraplegic on the drama "Rescue Me." This is a definite tangent from his comedic roles in "Spin City" and "Family Ties", but the risk was worth it! Still, we can't deny how gorgeous Jimmy Smits from "Dexter" is! He was nominated in this category alongside Ernest Borgnine, Ted Danson and Edward Asner.

Although "Breaking Bad" hasn't arrived on South African television yet, we have to highlight Aaron Paul (who plays Jesse Pinkman) in the series – he's a real hottie. "Breaking Bad" follows chemistry teacher, Walter White's decent into the drug trade and his meth-making partner played by Aaron Paul. A more familiar face to SA tv is John Slattery who stars as Victor Lang in "Desperate Housewives". Slattery has been nominated for his role as Roger Sterling in "Mad Men".

Reality TV has never been sexier with the likes of Jeff Probst ("Survivor") and Ryan Seacrest ("American Idol") hosting top-notch competitive programs. Ryan's career is on the up-and-up, with a lucrative R373million deal for hosting "American Idols". Probst dimpled seriousness in "Survivor" makes him a close second in the hottie stakes in the Emmy category of Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.
