Born on March 10, 1977, Robin Thicke is the son of Alan Thicke and his first wife (who acted in "Days of our Lives"), Gloria Loring. He grew up listening to Mary J. Blige, Babyface and Boys II Men – sounds which have influenced his R 'n B based tempos. Much like his musical heroes before him, Thicke has managed to keep one ear to the past and the other in tune with the future. "I like sexy music... and I feel my music should reflect all of that," he said.
-
At the age of twelve Robin taught himself to play piano. By the age of fourteen, he could play anything he heard on the radio. At sixteen, with no formal training, Robin began professionally writing and producing music for recording artists.
-
Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, Brian McKnight and Usher are just a few of the stars who have been fortunate enough to work with Robin. "For a while, I just thought I'll produce and write for other people," says Thicke. "It wasn't until the last year and a half that I decided I've got to put it all on the line. I've got to commit every day and every note to my album."
-
Robin is also close friends with another R 'n B hottie, Usher. In fact, in 2007 he performed at Usher's wedding to Tameka Foster.
-
Robin is the first white artist in almost 20 years to top the U.S. R 'n B charts since George Michael in 1988. He also has fifteen platinum albums to his credit.
-
2005 was a big year for Robin. Not only did he marry his high school sweetheart, Paula Patton who he met in a teen club at age fourteen, but he started working on his album "The Evolution of Robin Thicke", which turned him into a Grammy Award winner.
-
"My greatest desire with ["The Evolution of Robin Thicke"] was to write songs that were completely honest and sing them with the emotion I was feeling when I wrote them, so that whoever listens to my music is brought as close to my experiences and life as possible," he said. In addition to his Grammy Awards, this album earned Robin a Soul Train Award and VH1 Soul/VIBE Award. Proof that, by music industry standards, this blue-eyed singer has a lot of soul.
-
Robin has just released his third album, entitled 'Something Else', which is a tribute to '70s soul and pop and is inspired by the social changes America is undergoing at the moment, particularly Barack Obama's presidency. "It's time for hope and change," said Thicke. "It's in the air. And I'm speaking on the times around me."
-
He was named one of "People Magazine's" 100 Most Beautiful People in the World in May 2007, despite his rather lanky frame.

Ever the romantic, Robin Thicke serenaded his wife, Paula on their first date 15 years ago. Can you imagine the teen Robin singing his 'Superman' lyrics to her? "I will be there to take care of you, I will be there when you cry, babe, I will be there when you need someone to tell you that you're beautiful, baby..." Sigh.
