For this project we are starting with a corner table that can serve as a desk, a dresser or even a bathroom vanity.
You will need:
Raw pine furniture (we bought ours at Lotters Pine)
Rust-Oleum
Distressed Heritage
Blue kit
Optional:
Pine moulding
Alcolin fast set wood glue Clamps
Before you start painting make sure that the pine pieces is nicely sanded and smooth.
This part is optional, but I decided to add a bit more detail to the piece with pine moulding on the front of the table. The moulding was cut to size, glued and clamped into place until dry.
Rust-Oleum Distressed Heritage Blue kit comes with everything that you need for this project and the box has detailed step-by-step instructions for you to follow. Fool proof!
Apply the basecoat over the entire piece - even underneath the table. You want to create faux antique furniture. Only 1 coat is required, but be sure to apply the paint evenly, without any gaps. Leave to dry.
Use the supplied sanding pad to roughen up and distress the edges of the piece.
You can do as little or as much distressing as you want until you are satisfied with the result. If you take too much paint off you can always apply more paint to cover up.
The final touch is to add the topcoat. Be careful not to apply too much as it dries very quickly and is hard to remove. Work in small sections and have a damp paper towel handy to wipe off until you are happy with the finished look.
