Alexander McQueen's designs have always been dramatic. And this number, worn by Anna Paquin, doesn't fail. The cut on the hips is a little too loose, but the pattern is stunning.
-
Christina Applegate wore a blue Roberto Cavalli gown with embellishments on the shoulder and a silver clutch. Dazzling!
-
Diane Kruger donned a mustard one-shouldered Jason Wu gown. It's an odd colour choice for the red carpet, but really looks beautiful on her.
-
Drew Barrymore isn't doing it for us this red carpet season. Her blue strapless gown doesn't complement her shape. Sorry, Drew, we'll pass on this one.
-
Jane Krakowski wore a platinum satin one-shoulder gown with Martin Katz jewels.
-
Jennifer Carpenter's white long sleeve mini dress shows off her toned legs – and is also on trend with structured shoulders. Her eye make-up was way too heavy though.
-
White has proved very popular this season. Kate Hudson dons the colour in this backless Emilio Pucci gown with crystal detail on the hip.
-
We hope Mariah Carey's higher neckline indicates a definite shift away from her breast-baring dresses. This red one-shouldered gown with butterfly detail on the hip is very "Mariah" but with more class than usual. Notable improvement from her
Golden Globes gown.
-
Meryl Streep is simply lovely in a patterned Balenciaga gown with a black leather belt and clutch.
-
Mo'Nique has had a really gorgeous awards season. This pink dress with embroidered detail on the sleeves is simply divine. And we love her hair too!
-
Nicole Kidman wore a shimmering Oscar de la Renta strapless gown with multi-coloured embroidered detail. We would have loved to see it on the red carpet!
-
We're sick of seeing Penelope Cruz in black. The actress stuck to her repetitive palette with this L'Wren Scott gown with beaded embellishments. Add some colour, Penny. We love her black knotted heels, though.
-
Sandra Bullock's figure-hugging Alexander McQueen gown with electric blue detail around the neckline is perfect!
-
When Sophie Loren can't pull off an outfit, you know it's not worth wearing. Okay, we adore her sparkling heels, but the leather detail on her Armani Prive gown is too rash. We think something more elegant would have looked stunning on her.
-
Okay, Tina Fey totally got it wrong with her patterned gown at the
Golden Globes, but that doesn't stop her from playing around with colour again. This Salvatore Ferragamo putple dress looks really good on her – strange, because the colour could easily have made her look washed out. But it works, especially with those platinum peep-toe heels.
