My favourite thing about this app? Not having to call your spouse when you're at the store – you can share your list via sync. And even make sure you're buying the right item by snapping a pic. Grocery Gadget helps you stay organized at home and efficient at the supermarket. You can also save cash by matching coupons to shopping items and compare prices across stores.

Sure, this app is specifically designed for busy moms but it'll work for any woman really. Intuition is basically a personal assistant in a pocket. Aside from just being a to-do list, the app sends you an alert if you're near stores where you can complete your errands and synchronizes your events. An easy way to keep track of whether the kids should be at piano lessons or soccer games and where you can pick up groceries in the area for the dinner party you're throwing tonight – and what ingredie

So the design is a little on the kitch side, but here's a useful app for all women. Period Tracker logs your dates and calculates the average of your past 3 months' menstrual cycles. Very useful – there's nothing worse than having to ask for tampons or landing up with a bloody stain on your favourite white skirt. Also helpful if you're trying to get pregnant (it also counts down to your due date) as well and to keep track of doctor or gynae visits.

This app is so fabulous, it won the Apple Design Award this year and has been placed in the App Store Hall of Fame. Quite an achievement, right? Pulse takes your favourite websites and transforms them into a colourful and interactive mosaic. Very pretty. You can also save stories to read later and (of course) share on your favourite social networks and via e-mail.

First off, I'm drawn to the really fun, funky interface. Stylish Girl is a style planner and shopping app which revolves around the clothes you already have and the items you're listing over. Presented at New York Fashion Week, the app allows you to mix and match your clothes, share outfit ideas with friends and offers inspiration from celeb pics.

Yes, it's a 24.com app but in all honesty, you're not going to find a bigger database of restaurants in South Africa. So before you traipse around town and land up wasting your money and time at a place you don't like, this is a good place to start. The restaurant database allows you to search for hot spots to hang out around your area, read peer reviews (and upload your own) and it even links to Google maps to make sure you don't get lost along the way.

Whether you're a beginner, seasoned pro or just looking for a way to spice up your routine, this fitness application will be handy. Pick from a range of exercises or design your own program to suit your fitness and strength level. Developed in conjunction with physiotherapists and fitness coaches, it also has a built-in progress tracker and suggests workout ideas if you're zoning in on a specific body part.
