Social Networking can catapult celebs to super-stardom. They use their profiles to promote their latest career moves (like the release of a new album or clothing line), and some even dish dirty secrets and post the odd scandalous pic or two. So Forbes have come up with a list of the Top 10 social networking and while some are obvious, there were a few surprises too…
1. Rihanna

Twitter followers: 23.8 million. Facebook fans: 59.6 million

Riri is known for her provocative tweets. and raunchy pics – some of which have even gotten her into trouble (in April she posted some pics which looked as if the star was doing drugs). Love her or hate her, she’s got to be doing something right to top this list.
2. Lady Gaga

Twitter followers: 28 million. Facebook fans: 53 million

The mother monster is without a doubt the most popular schleb on Twitter, mostly using it to share tour dates and record releases. Surprisingly, her tweets are actually quite tame –definitely not as wack as some of her outfits and crazy ad campaigns.
3. Eminem

Twitter followers: 11.9 million. Facebook fans: 60.3 million

While he isn’t in the public eye as much as before, the bad boy rapper is still the most popular Facebook celeb. His Twitter followers are much lower - he uses the platform for purely promotional reasons. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though – his lyrics are explicit enough, who wants to hear him complain about how much he hates his ex wife on Twitter as well?
4. Justin Bieber

Twitter followers: 26 million. Facebook fans: 45.8 million

Beliebers would literally kill for their Bieb – earlier this year they waged a war on all the Little Monsters, and tried without success to beat Lady Gaga’s 28 million Twitter followers. Justin shares thoughts and pics of his travels, photo shoots and tours. Most importantly, he retweets his fans – proving he won’t forget how he became famous in the first place.
5. Katy Perry

Twitter followers: 24.5 million. Facebook fans: 45.7 million

Katy is as much of a sweetheart online as she is on the red carpet. She connects directly with her fans and although her ex is the comedian, Katy often shares funny photos and videos, proving that there’s more to her than coloured hair and cute outfits. Click here for the rest of the top ten.
