Travis and my sister worked together and we met by her setting us up on a 'blind date'. On the day of our first date, we had discovered that we had already met before. His cousin and I were friends and he accompanied her to my birthday party a few years prior.

We hit it off immediately, and knew we were meant for each other. In 2007 we moved to London, where we stayed for 2 years. Upon our return from London in 2009, we moved to Sandton and started another new chapter in our lives.

On my birthday, August 2010, he woke me up at midnight (as we traditionally would) and gave me a bottle of perfume.

He surprised me at work at lunch time that day "to fetch the house keys', meanwhile having previously arranged for me to work half day. We got home, he told me to have a nap, after which he started preparing my special birthday dinner.

We then received a call from a good friend whose "car got stuck". I didn’t hesitate to help him.

We arrived at Sandton City, looking for our friend. He told Travis to meet him at a coffee shop. Travis was then walking towards the Vilamoura , Sandton Sun, where I later figured out that he had actually made a reservation.

We planned our Cape Town wedding from JHB. The planning was such fun and we refused to stress about it as the rest of our lives together was much more important than just one day.

A few weeks before the wedding my mom suffered a severe heart attack. I then had to rush to Cape Town. Thank God our planning was mostly finalised, so that I could be with her. Through prayer and faith, she managed to spend most of our day with us and is now recovering.

Our wedding day was on Friday 16 December 2011 and it was beautiful! Even though it went by quickly, we had so much fun.

Our ceremony was held at St John’s Anglican Church in Bellville South and our reception was at the picturesque Kelvin Grove Club in Newlands.

Our photographer, Megan H Photography and her assistant Clive were absolutely amazing. They made us feel so comfortable (also did our engagement pics) and the pics came out PEFECT!

Bertram at Spoon 2 Spoon made our stunning wedding cake. Our wedding car, a Land Rover Discovery stretched Limo, was hired from Royal Limousine Services.

Travis' aunt did our flowers as a gift. My sister made the feathered serviette holders and many other family members were on board assisting with printing and binding our pew leaflets, setting up our venue, etc. We added a few personal touches like the wooden Mr and Mrs and the twigged hearts.

My husband is a wonderful man and God has surely blessed us with a beautiful union!
