It all began when my gran phoned me inviting me for a braai in early August 2007. She said that she found the perfect man for me; which is one of my uncle’s work colleagues.

With nothing to lose and being very inquisitive to meet this man, I attended the braai. I must admit – for one who does not believe in love at first sight – I really fell head-over-heels for this guy, who playfully proposed to me that night twice…kneeling.

After emailing each other a couple of times, we officially started dating from the 16 September 2007. It’s still very cute reading all the original emails that Martin sent to me.

The beginning of the first email read “ I’m sitting on my bed typing a mail for some pretty, stunning, gorgeous, beautiful, brilliant, intelligent, amazing lady I have met. She hit me with a bang. Yes, it is you smiley :-)”.
From then on I was hooked. This man was all I ever wanted - successful, ambitious, charming; the list is just never ending.

How he proposed: As most people are aware, Martin is a professional eightball pool player. Come end of September 2009, he flew up to Graceland Casino to complete in the National eightball pool championships. Unfortunately, he got knocked out on the Thursday.

I do not know when he made up his mind to propose and that I was the one that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, but what I do know is that he was meant to only fly back home the forthcoming week.

I was surprised to find out that he sat the whole of Friday and Saturday at the O.R.Tambo Airport to catch an emergency flight back home to Cape Town, and was lucky enough to get a flight Sunday, 4 October at 6.00am.

He arrived in Cape town at 8.00am and it was amazing to see him again after 10 days. We went home and lay on the bed kissing and cuddling, when he popped the question, and of course I said… YES!
Two years down the line, on the 17 December 2011, I got married to the man of my dreams. We searched long and hard to find the perfect venue: Kemonaté. The best way to describe this venue is that it's a "hidden jewel”. Not many people know that this stunning boutique wine farm exists in Durbanville.

I am proud to say that the Lord blessed me with the talent to design and make my own wedding gown.

Friends and family all helped to decorate the venue with mostly handmade items according to my wishes. Everything at the wedding reflected our personalities. Every moment was breathtakingly special. Please see for yourself…
