I first saw Quintin on a photo posted on Facebook by one of my work colleagues and thought he was rather cute. I didn’t realise that we worked for the same Company and soon forgot about the guy I saw in the photo. Image credit: Patrick Furter

A few months later I was sent to a Hotel in Pretoria to do some work and I saw this guy that looked very familiar. I suddenly realised he was the guy I saw in the photo and that he actually works for the same company. Image credit: Patrick Furter

Being the shy girl that I am, I didn’t greet him or even speak to him the entire day. Later that day he came to introduce himself to me and we just clicked instantly. We only started dating 3 months later in October 2008 and from the very first day, we knew we would be husband and wife. 3 Years later, the fairytale became a reality. Image credit: Patrick Furter

How he proposed:
We were on our way to Central Drakensburg for bit of a breakaway. My family already arrived in Drakensburg the Friday and we only drove through Saturday morning due to having to work the Friday. I was extremely anxious to get there, but Quintin was taking a leisurely drive, enjoying the scenery and already in holiday mode. Image credit: Patrick Furter

I felt I had to arrive there first to start my holiday mode, so needless to say I was in a rush to get there as fast as we could. We stopped in Clarens and then Golden Gate and by the time we stopped at Golden Gate I was both hungry and irritated - not a good combination. Image credit: Patrick Furter

Quintin then told me that we had to go for a stroll up the mountain as there was a restaurant where we could have breakfast. I was not convinced that they could build a restaurant up the mountain, but I decided to follow him so that he could prove this to me. I was moaning the entire walk up as my legs were itching, I was hungry and it was a rather far hike up this mountain.Image credit: Patrick Furter

I was irritated with him for dragging me up this mountain and he was irritated with me for moaning the entire way up. Eventually I told him that if the Restaurant was not around the next, I would be going all the way back down to the car. As we got to the corner which was rather far up the mountain, there was a blanket lying there with a Picnic Basket and Roses. That was when I realised what was about to happen. My frown suddenly turned into a smile. It was the most spectacular view from the top and we sat there having our breakfast and champagne. Image credit: Patrick Furter

After eating he got up onto one knee and asked me to marry him. I obviously said Yes! For months he had been in contact with a Hotel in Clarens, who arranged this picnic up the mountain for us. It was truly amazing.Image credit: Patrick Furter

Date of the Wedding:
15th December 2011

-
We decided on this date as we wanted my sister Marzia who lives in USA, to be able to attend and whilst visiting, spend Christmas with the family.Image credit: Patrick Furter

We decided to keep our wedding small, not more than 60 people which turned out to be a challenge as there are very few venues that cater for small weddings. Image credit: Patrick Furter
-
We did however manage to find a beautiful venue, Moon & Sixpence, in Muldersdrift, Johannesburg.Image credit: Patrick Furter

All our decorations, flowers, invites, we made ourselves which made our journey to the wedding day even more exciting. We rented all our equipment from various supplies and did not use one specific supplier.Image credit: Patrick Furter
