You’re in love and want to move in with him. But is cohabitation a good idea? I think not.

“You only really know each other once you’ve shared a home,” quipped a friend of mine who lives with her boyfriend of almost six years.

Apart from learning more about him, living together has also benefitted them financially as they now share their expenses.

But, I'm skeptical. Not because I read this unnerving New York Times piece in which a psychologist delves into some stats about pre-marital cohabitation and a hike in divorce...

My reason for being against it is simply because I know where it leads to - or rather, where it does not.

You see, it’s four years later and guess what? That big plan of saving up and tying the knot 'soon' has still not materialised. And honestly, I don’t think it ever will.

They’ve grown too comfortable

I’ve seen it happen to too many people: They meet, start dating, fall head-over-heels, say marriage is next, but move in together first. Then, either their relationship dies or they lose sight of the ‘goal’.

But, that’s just me.
