First impressions
When I first saw the Je Joue MiMi, I had a moment of Zen. It looks for all intents and purposes like a smooth river pebble in a Japanese rock garden. This calmed me, pleased my senses and made me feel happy. I couldn’t wait to put it between my legs.

What it is
The Mimi is a very discreet external (clitoral) vibrator. It’s waterproof and can be used during partner or solo play. Only 9 cm long, Mimi is 5.5 cm wide and 3.5 cm thick at its base. It’s made from absolutely delish, matt, velvety 100% body-safe silicon. It has very simple function keys: “+” and “–¬” toggle between the vibe strengths and the “s” moves between the vibe patterns.

How it works
The manufacturers call the Mimi ‘elegant’ and, while I hate agreeing with PR speak, they’re right. There aren’t any dancing monkeys and the Mimi won’t be lighting up like a drunk Christmas elf. It’s a very basic clit and vulva stimulator, but I love how you can cup it in your hand and use it to “rub one out” (STILL love that phrase), almost literally. There’s no real pin-point stimulation with this one, but I found the sides were pointy enough for more directed stim.



What it does
There are five straightforward settings that move up in increments of intensity by toggling between simple “+” and “–” push buttons. The “s” button takes you through six patterns.

What I thought of it:

The happy
I was really impressed with the variety of vibe. Its first setting is a very low rumble that kicks up to an almost manic buzz at its top level. So if you’re a beginner and not sure how much hum your clit and vulva need to get happy this is good place to start, as there is good range from gentle to giant.

I love the material, it’s that finish that doesn’t get snagged anywhere, doesn’t pull on soft skin and glides over everything – with or without lube. It’s super easy to clean, especially as there aren’t any seams or funny curves and bumps.

The packaging is typical Je Joue-quality awesome – sturdy black box, ribbon, tidy, neat, no mess, no fuss. The charger is Fun Factory-style magnetic clip, so it’s environmentally friendly and you won’t have to worry about running out of battery power. I think it’s quite clever how they’ve done it, as the two metal “+” and “–” buttons act as the connection points for charging. Such delightful design economy. A tiny Je Joue heart-shaped emblem lights up as it charges, so you know exactly if it’s actually doing so and when it’s done.

The not happy
Well, it may be waterproof, but due to the fact that it’s such a slippy-smooth material in a pebble shape that affords almost no grip you’ll probably spend more time trying to get it back in your hands let alone on your vagina or ball sack. I’m not really into playing with toys in water, so this isn’t a problem for me.

I also found that gripping the body tightly affects the vibration slightly and that changing the settings during play is tricky as you need to stop and get the toy in both hands. But it’s such a lovely little piece this didn’t register as too much of a problem.

Should you run out and buy it
This is a great first-time toy and, because of its range, will keep you sorted for a while (or until you want more pokey, twirly, fanny acrobatic-type toys). It is super unintimidating for those men folk with penis issues and very unassuming in its Zen-like, rock-garden manner. And because you can cup it so easily in your hand, it’s perfect for stimulating yourself during partner play.

It may feel a touch pricey, but for its quality and longevity I think very well worth it. This is not a gimmicky toy and I will bet a month of orgasms that it will make its value known the minute you untie that wonderful little black ribbon.
