The streets were painted pink as the Gay Pride Parade made its way through Cape Town recently. Do you support the cause?
Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered Capetonians took to the streets in a variety of colourful costumes and extravagant floats to rid the land of discrimination!
This year's theme was Love our Diversity and diverse they were…
According to SABC's Festival Director, Gareth Dallas, "We are here to celebrate our queerness our beautifulness our transgender folk, our inter sex folk. But also to put a little bit of a spotlight on issues such as corrective rape in South Africa and how wrong that is and why it needs to change."
All the hard work paid off with organisations including Good Hope Metropolitan Community Church, Gender DynamiX, Health4Men and SA Leathermen, all taking part in the festivities.
Couldn't make it to the parade? No worries! Dorothy Black took some great pics for you to check out here!
