QUESTION
I've lost my luggage, it's been damaged or delayed, what do I do?
ANSWER
Passengers who have lost baggage/contents or find on arrival that their bags have been damaged or mishandled must report the loss or damage immediately to the relevant airlines' Lost Property Office or within seven days of the incident, either in person at the airport, or in writing.
After acquiring a reporting number from the Lost Property Office in the baggage claims area at the airport, complete a claims form and take it or send it to the Passenger Claims Office with the documentation (this is specified on the claims form).
It can take up to 21 working days to finalise all claims.
The value paid varies, but it's usually somewhere around the $20 per kg mark.
