Get started 1 Decide on the height of the screens, including the length of the wheels (see pic 6) and track width, then use the spirit level to mark this height above the window. Remember The lines should extend on either side of the window opening by the width of one panel.
2 Align the six angle brackets with the
line drawn in step one and fix these to the
wall at equal intervals, as shown. These
should be spaced roughly 500mm apart.
Use the Hilti wall anchors or screws and
wall plugs together with the washers. Use
the electric drill and masonry drill bit to
drill holes for the plugs.
3 Use the cordless drill and 5mm drill
bit to drill holes along the top of the
track that correspond with the brackets.
Fix the track to the brackets using the
spanner and screwdriver to fasten the
nuts and bolts.
4 Construct the screen framework using
the 22mm x 22mm pine – the lengths
should overlap the short sides. Drill pilot
holes using the cordless drill and 3mm
drill bit. Then use glue and the cut screws
to fix together. Paint the frames with
multi-surface primer, followed by enamel.
(We used white.) Allow to dry fully before
continuing with the next step.
5 Now stretch the fabric over the
framework. Pull the fabric evenly as you
work along the sides so that any pattern
in the fabric does not become distorted.
6 Once you have completed all the screen panels necessary to cover the opening, fix the wheels to the 'top' of the screen framework using the cordless drill and 16mm chipboard screws. Important The double track set comes with two different sets of wheels ? one pair is intended for the 'front' panel and the other for the back. Make sure that you fix these to the correct panels and also the correct ends, so that any pattern runs the same way. Hang the screens from the track.
7 Paint one side of the 96mm x 12mm
pine length. First use a primer, followed
by enamel, and allow to dry. Fix a heavy
duty double-sided tape to the unpainted
side of the 96mm x 12mm length, then
adhere it to the side of the track. This will
form a pelmet that will hide the wheels
and top edge of the screens.
