Built to last

Consider low-maintenance, plastered skirting boards if you are building a home or want to replace old skirtings.

Project notes
  • If you have not previously attempted some form of plastering this may not be the project for you as it requires a degree of dexterity and to finish an entire home might be physically taxing. Instead, specify it as a design detail on your plans for your builder to take into account.
  • The quantities you require will need to be adjusted according to the perimeter of each room you intend to finish in this way, as well as how thick and how high you want your skirting boards to run along the walls. Ask your building supply specialist for assistance with this estimation.

    Shopping list

  • premixed plaster mix (available in 12kg, 20kg and 25kg bags) or mix your own Portland cement and sand (ask for plaster sand)
