Peanut This edible nut is the seed of a member of the pea family and not a true nut. The pods mature underground and each contain 2-4 seeds. Use: Peanuts can be roasted, salted and eaten whole or used when cooked dishes. In cooking it may be used raw, still in its reddish skin or roasted. Peanuts are particularly important in African and Asian dishes. Also used to make peanut butter and peanut oil. |
