The history of quince cheese can be traced back to Spain where it was known as 'membrillo' and was usually sold at cheese counters. Any firm, strong, aromatic cheese is a perfect partner for this delicacy, which can be served on a cheeseboard with grapes, nuts, crackers and a glass of port.

They are large, furry golden autumn fruit and is seldom eaten raw, unless it's grated. A member of the apple and pear family, they are usually cooked. When ripe, it's yellow with a strong perfumed smell.
