Chocolate sauce pudding
Ingredients
100 g
soft butter
100 g
castor sugar
2
extra large eggs
125 ml
ready made chocolate sauce
2 ml
vanilla essence
30 ml
milk
50 g
chopped walnuts
100 g
self-raising flour, sifted
SAUCE
125 ml
ready made chocolate sauce
150 ml
hot water
TO SERVE
ready made chocolate or caramel sauce
Method:
1. CAKE MIXTURE: Butter a 1 litre baking dish. Beat the butter and sugar until light. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Continue beating until the mixture becomes creamy.
2. In a separate bowl, stir the chocolate sauce, vanilla, milk and walnuts together. Fold the flour into creamed mixture in batches, alternating with chocolate mixture. Spoon into the prepared dish.
3. SAUCE: Stir the hot water into the chocolate sauce and pour over the top of the cake mixture.
4. Bake the pudding at 190 ºC for 35-40 minutes. during baking the sponge cake rises to the surface and the chocolate sauce forms a layer underneath. Serve hot, decorated with stripes of sauce.
