- flour
1 cup flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, divided use
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup nuts
2 tbsp melted butter or margarine
3/4 to 1 cup brown sugar
1 cup hot water
Combine and sift flour, granulated sugar, 3 tbsp cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Stir vanilla into the milk and add to the dry ingredients. Stir in nuts and melted butter. Pour into prepared baking dish. Combine 3/4 to 1 cup brown sugar and the remaining 3 tbsp cocoa. Sprinkle over the batter in the baking dish. Pour 1 cup hot water over all. Bake at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. - Louise Kirsten
